Presentation Skills for Internal Trainers
👉 “When you watch yourself on video now – what do you like? What are you doing well?” Awkward silence. Nervous smile.
I ask this question often, and the reaction is always the same. Participants in the Presentation Skills training watch themselves on video, and their brain instantly switches to critical mode and starts looking for mistakes.
The most common answer? “I don’t know.” And after a moment, they quickly list all the things they don’t like.
“I speak too fast and have a weird voice.”
“I look nervous.”
“That gesture was awkward, and I said ‘like’ three times.”
🔴But… what if we’re seeing a reality that’s distorted and giving us a false image? Is that helpful? What if people watching me see something completely different, and I’m just stressing myself out and losing confidence for no reason?
📢That’s why we do a Reality Check in our courses. When participants compare what they see with feedback from their colleagues, they often hear something completely different:
💬“You have a pleasant voice, easy to listen to.”
💬“You seem calm and professional.”
💬“Your structure makes sense and kept my attention.”
And at that moment, they realise: “Wait… is that really me?“
Yes, it is. And very often, you are much better than you think.
How can you learn to naturally see your strengths?
✅ Stop chasing perfection. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is whether your presentation works for your audience. We’re human – and being human is attractive and refreshing.
✅ Ask for feedback. Be curious about what others see, not just what your inner critic says.
✅ Watch the video with distance. As if you were evaluating someone else – maybe your favourite colleague. Try to find 3 things you’re doing well.
And most importantly – presenting is not about being flawless. It’s about being clear, authentic and at ease. 😊
👇 And what about you? Have you ever been surprised that you’re actually not as bad as you thought?
We had several of these moments today at the workshop for internal trainers. Thank you, Bobcat EMEA, for a great day and thanks to all participants for their energy.
And I wish you all lots of ease and lightness in your presentations. 🍀
