It doesn’t start with an explosion. Nor with a collapse.

It starts when you’ve been ignoring your morning fatigue for the third week in a row. You skip breaks. Cancel a walk. Eat lunch at your computer. Don’t reply to a friend, even though you’d really like to talk. You function. But for how long?

Burnout creeps in silently. It drains your energy, empathy, motivation, memory…
And before we realize it, the vibrant mind turns to fog. Joy in your belly becomes pressure.

37% of adults worldwide experience symptoms of burnout (2023).
53% of working Europeans report feeling “mentally exhausted” or “on the verge of burnout” in the past 12 months (2025).

Chronic stress changes how the brain works – it impairs focus, decision-making, and resilience to pressure. And yet, the key to effective prevention isn’t some miracle technique. Nor is it giving up our desires or life’s pace. It’s ordinary, daily attention to ourselves.

🧭 How am I doing today?
This simple question can be your compass. A pause that helps keep you from sliding into autopilot. A moment to notice what you need.

Try asking yourself right now. Look at this scale – it can help you quickly identify where you are.
Then ask: What do I need? How can I take care of my energy so I have enough for everything today?

How am I?
🔟 Everything clicks – I feel joy, calm, and energy
9️⃣ I’m excited – I energize others
8️⃣ I’m enjoying things, eager to create and plan
7️⃣ I’m in a good mood, handling things with ease
6️⃣ I have decent energy and can deal with people
5️⃣ I’m okay – nothing great, but it’s manageable
4️⃣ I’m tired, but still getting by somehow
3️⃣ I get upset easily, feeling under pressure
2️⃣ I’m so exhausted I have to force myself to do basic things
1️⃣ I feel so bad I’d rather stay in bed all day

✨ It’s not about being at 9–10 all the time.
Those are peak moments, not the daily norm.
But if we’ve been at 4 or lower for a few days, it’s time to pay attention. Something needs to change. Energy needs to be restored.

Mental health care is more than a set of facts. It’s a daily habit, a daily act of self-awareness.

How are you doing today? Take care – wishing you well 🙂
